WHY PARIS IS PROUD THIS PRIDE

Paris has always always been, well, enamored with itself. This month, Paris will be especially proud as it celebrated Gay Pride on June 27th. We thought this would be a good moment to explore some of the lesser-known reasons why Paris is just so damn proud.

1. MOST RECOGNIZABLE PHALLIC ATTRACTION

It's been straight and tall for over 125 years without even thinking about taking Viagra. Now that's something to be proud of, right? No monument defines a city as well as the Eiffel Tower defines Paris, and we dare you to find another phallic attraction in a city that is as globally recognized. Dare you!

2. MOST ICONIC DIRTY DANCING

The Moulin Rouge. Crazy Hourse. Lido. Paris has no shortage of topless dance shows where women and men strip down and (sometimes) bare it all for the audiences. We've come a long way from the can-can, but in Paris you will be spoilt for choice when it comes to dirty dancing.

3. MOST FAMOUS QUEEN

Take your Ru Paul's and your Sharon Needles, we don't need them. Paris has (well, had) the ultimate queen and we still love her today. Good old Marie Antoinette, famously (mis?) quoted as having told the masses to eat cake, we gays know she was just being her sassy self. No one can eat cake, wear a corset, and still look good. Amirite? Miss your face M.A.

4. MOST SPACIOUS BACKROOM

Did you know? Yes, Paris boasts the largest backroom in all of Europe at a place called the Depot. We've been there, and we'd go again. Well, after a few drinks. Hell, a lot of drinks. This place can get creepy! Hallways and rooms for all sorts of dark deeds await, but you won't be cramped like in other European dark rooms. This place is huge, so have some fun!

5. MOST STIMULATING SOUVENIRS

What other city has been immortalized in a hypoallergenic sex toy? Not Big Ben. Not Lady Liberty. Not the TV Tower in Berlin (because OUCH). But yes, the classic Eiffel Tower is available in a dildo and we are very proud of it. Meet "La Tour Est Folle," the most intimate interaction possible with the Eiffel Tower. Check it out!

6. MOST SAME SEX MARRIAGES (IN FRANCE)

In 2014, the first full year of gay marriage being legal in France, 1331 homosexual couples tied the knot in Paris, more than any other French city. We're not surprised, but hey, we're still proud.

7. MOST VISITED CITY

So many lists come out about the most visited city in the world. Sometimes it's London, or Bangkok, or Hong Kong. The criteria are so different, so who even knows? But ask any Parisian and they'll tell you that Paris is the most visited city in the world. A) Its always at the top end of those lists and B) It's the center of the world, so like, duh.
