SLIP INTO VALENTINE'S
/It's that time of year again, Valentine’s Day. Some people love to celebrate, others don’t really pay attention, and the rest hate it. As gays, we should apparently be more excited about the day. According to legend, Saint Valentine was a Roman incarcerated for performing forbidden weddings for soldiers. Sound familiar?
We're not the holiday's biggest fans. But no matter your stance on Valentine’s Day, you can’t avoid it entirely. For those lovebirds who want to embrace it, we've got a few Parisian gift ideas to get you in the mood.
In France, the land of lingerie, even guys can have some romantic fun with their under garments or le slip in French. Whether looking for a saucy gift for someone else or hoping to surprise him in the bedroom with undies you didn't just pick up at the Gap or Uniqlo, here is our quick guide to underwear shopping in Paris for gentlemen and cads alike.
When in France, why not buy something Made in France? This brand of underwear and accessories is French owned and made. Started in 2011 and with continued success, Le Slip Français has now opened their own shop in the Marais. Their designs are cute with a strong French influence.
137, rue Vieille du Temple, 75003 Paris
Another French creation, but very much at the other end of the design scale. Emmanuel Lohéac founded Pull-in in 2000 because he wanted to revolutionize the conservative lingerie market and make something fashion. With a lot of bright colours and fun designs, he has surely done just that.
104 rue Vieille du Temple, 75003 Paris / 19 rue Pavee, 75004 PARIS / 13 rue de Turbigo, 75002 Paris / 8 rue des Abbesses, 75018 Paris
With two shops, back to back, at the centre of the Marais, this might just be considered the megastore of underwear stores. The smaller shop, on rue du Bourg Tibourg, is dedicated to the ES Collection and has everything you could possible wish for from the brand. The larger store, on rue de Moussy, covers two floors and boasts and amazing 300 branding including Andrew Christian, Addicted, and Calvin Klein.
8 rue de Moussy, 75004 Paris / 15 rue du Bourg Tibourg, 75004 Paris
This is for those who can't be in Paris but still want something French. The brand started in 2011 by a French couple, Arthus and Nico who "decided to bring some more sexiness to the world." A good choice for those looking for something more original and a bit playful.
Happy shopping, and an even Happier Valentine's Day (and night...).
